Governors

Maj (retd) Simon Reader, BSC (Hons) MBA – Chair of Governors

Simon moved to the area when he was stationed at the military base in Northwood, his last posting before retiring from the Army. He now lives locally in Croxley Green and his daughters attended the school, where they both flourished in its fun and friendly atmosphere. Simon runs a family office on behalf of a property finance entrepreneur, managing investments primarily in real estate. He is also a Trustee of a local Scout group.

Mr Adam Hatfield, ACA

Adam, who lives in Chorleywood has been a Governor since 2002 and is a former pupil, as was his brother, elder sister and brother-in-law.  Both of Adam’s daughters attended the school in the 1990’s, as did his three nieces, and his wife was for a time an active member of the PTA.  Adam is a chartered accountant.

Mr Paul McGlone, MA FIA

Paul is an Actuary who specialises in providing advice to large corporate pension schemes and the trustees who manage those schemes. Paul and his wife live in Little Chalfont, having previously lived in Rickmansworth and Chorleywood since 1994.  Their daughter attended the school from 2005 to 2013.  Paul was chair of the governing body from 2016 to 2018 and is also a Governor at the Beacon School in Amersham, which his son attended.

Dr Karen McNerney BSc (Hons), PGCE, MSc, EdD

Karen grew up and was educated in Wimbledon. She graduated from the University of Newcastle-upon-Tyne with an Honours degree in Biochemistry. However, she knew that she always wanted to teach and moved to Swansea to complete a P.G.C.E in Primary Teaching. She has taught both boys and girls in prep. schools in North London and Hertfordshire before joining Northwood Prep in 2001. Karen completed her Doctorate of Education in 2012 and is working towards applying the findings of her research into practice at MTP. Karen started as Head of Merchant Taylors’ Prep from September 2015.

Mrs Shreya Ramroop LLB ACA

Shreya and her husband live in Rickmansworth and have two daughters, both of whom attended Charlotte House from nursery to year 6. They both had a wonderful experience at the school, benefitting from its nurturing and encouraging environment. Shreya is a Chartered Accountant with 20 years experience , she currently runs her own accountancy practice specialising in the provision of part time finance director services.

Miss Caroline Smethers

Caroline is a past pupil of Charlotte House when it was called PNEU starting in September 1975. Caroline’s Sister also attended the school and her Uncle was the first boy to attend back in the 1950’s.

Having grown up in Chorleywood, then moved to South London, Caroline is now back in the local area and is looking forward to bringing an alumni connection to the school. She is still in regular contact with over 10 of her old classmates even after all this time.

Professionally, Caroline is a PA currently and has held jobs in Project Management. She also works on a volunteer basis for two  charities.

Miss Catriona Smith, MA (Hons) 

Catriona is a solicitor and, before retirement, was a partner with a “Magic Circle” law firm for many years, specialising in Intellectual Property litigation. She now works part time with an IP specialist practice, and with the Law Faculty of the University of Oxford, passing on the knowledge and experience she has acquired to the next generations. Catriona lives locally and is glad to spend time on Charlotte House activities, her daughter having benefitted so much from her time at the School.

Mr Robert Stuttaford DipM, FCIM

Robert and his wife have lived in Chorleywood since 1994.  They have two grown up children who went to local prep schools. Robert is a marketing professional and currently runs his own marketing consultancy which focuses on branding and business development for professional and financial services firms.

Mrs Pippa Wilson

Pippa has lived in or around Chorleywood for nearly 45 years.  She teaches at St John’s Prep School in Northwood.  Pippa has worked there, as a class teacher, for over 30 years, in both the lower part of the Prep School and the Pre-Prep Department. She now has a part-time teaching role in the Pre Prep and the SEN department.

When her daughter started at Charlotte House, Pippa became a class rep and before long chaired the PTA.  She is very supportive of the caring, nurturing approach of Charlotte House, which gave her daughter a sound grounding for transfer to her senior school.
