Mr Paul McGlone, MA FIA  – Chair of Governors

Paul and his wife have lived in Rickmansworth and Chorleywood since 1994.  Their daughter attended the school from 2005 to 2013, while their son attends a local boys’ school.

Paul is an Actuary and works for a large pensions consulting firm, splitting his time between managing the business and advising clients.

Miss Catriona Smith, MA (Hons)

Catriona is a solicitor and, before retirement, was a partner with a “Magic Circle” law firm for many years, specialising in Intellectual Property litigation, a subject on which she writes and lectures at regular intervals. She now works part time for an IP specialist practice, using her accumulated knowledge to help and advise on IP and life as a lawyer. Catriona lives locally and is glad to spend time on Charlotte House activities, her daughter having benefitted so much from her time at the School.

Mr Adam Hatfield, FCA

Adam, who lives in Chorleywood has been a Governor since 2002 and is a former pupil, as was his brother, elder sister and brother-in-law.  Both of Adam’s daughters attended the school in the 1990’s, as did his three nieces, and his wife was for a time an active member of the PTA.  Adam is a Chartered Accountant.

Mr Robert F Kay, FCA

Robert has been involved in the School since 1977 which his elder daughter became a pupil.  His wife was a member of the teaching staff for many years.  Robert was treasurer of the PTA and then became a governor and treasurer in 1983.  After qualifying as a Chartered Accountant, he worked in practice for five years before going into the industry in 1974.  He has been Financial Director for three companies.

Mrs Sarah Starr, BA (Hons) – Company Secretary

Sarah has a long relationship with the school and lives locally.  Her three daughters all attended the school and she served on the PTA for over ten years.  Her career was spent in marketing, particularly market research, after gaining a degree in statistics.  She is also involved in Young Enterprise, which offers business-linked programmes to young people, and is a member of the Watford Area Board.

Mrs Pippa Wilson

Pippa has lived in or around Chorleywood for nearly 40 years.  She teaches at St John’s Prep School in Northwood.  Pippa has worked there for over 20 years, teaching in the lower part of the Prep School and more recently in the Pre-Prep Department, where she is currently a Year 2 class teacher.

When her daughter started at Charlotte House, Pippa became a class rep and before long chaired the PTA.  She is very supportive of the caring, nurturing approach of Charlotte House, which gave her daughter a sound grounding for transfer to her senior school.

Ms Helen Davison BA (Hons)

Helen has lived and worked as a teacher in the local area for 25 years.  She has been a member of the Senior Leadership team in two schools, most recently as Deputy Head of a small independent school with similar ethos to Charlotte House.

Helen joined the board in 2013.

Mr David Baker, BSc (Hons)

David and his wife have lived in Pinner since 2001 and their daughter attended Charlotte House from Nursery to Year 6.  David was also Chairman of the PTA for three years, whilst his daughter attended the school.

David is a director of a recycling company based in Letchworth, Hertfordshire.

 

Mrs Judith Parr B.Sc. DipPFS

Judith and her husband live in Watford, and their daughter is currently in Form VI at Charlotte House. They also have a young son who attends a local prep school. Their daughter has benefitted significantly from her time at Charlotte House, both academically and socially. She is looking forward to transitioning to her senior school in September 2017.

After 15 years in the pharmaceutical industry, Judith retrained and is now a qualified independent financial planner, supporting clients with their personal finances and investments. Judith joined the board in March 2017.

Mrs Joanne Askew BSc (Hons) MRICS

Joanne grew-up in Rickmansworth and Chorleywood.  She has two teenage daughters, one at RMS and another at Durham University.

Joanne is a Commercial Investment Surveyor and has latterly been running a business with her husband.  Joanne joined the board in June 2017.
