COMPUTING

At Charlotte House we endeavour to provide our girls with the skills they need in order to become confident and competent users of technological equipment. We believe it is essential to enrich the quality of the curriculum by integrating technology into our daily lessons, as well as each class receiving weekly specific taught sessions.

Through teaching Computing the girls learn the basic skills they need to become independent, creative and dynamic learners. They then put their computing skills to great use across the curriculum whether it is researching a topic on the internet, creating Power Points, filming a presentation or using spread sheets in Maths.

We constantly review and develop our Computing facilities, striving to provide the girls with a vast range of technology based learning resources.

Our Computing provision consists of: a learning resources centre equipped with PCs, interactive whiteboards in every classroom, laptop computers, programmable ‘robots’, remote control equipment and over 40 iPads all of which are readily accessible to all girls from Nursery through to Form VI. Girls are also given the opportunity to use digital cameras for filming, recording and presenting some aspects of their work.

The software available is tailored to meet the requirements of the different age groups in the school and we use different packages to enhance the children’s learning in all subject areas.
